Episode 2 Mayweather Vs Ortiz Preview with Bert Sugar
Download The MP3 Here
Almost fight time, but before the bell rings let's get a preview from Bert Randolph Sugar. I had the pleasure of writing for Bert's Boxing Illustrated from 1989 to 1994 and whenever in town for a big fight, I always make sure to spend time with my good friend.
You'll also hear Bert's thought's on the Klitchko brothers and various thoughts on HBO's 24/7 show, and his dislike for MMA bouts (of which I disagree ;))

Documentary Dempsey vs Tunney
Download The MP3 Here
Next week is the 84th anniversary of The Long Count, the infamous Heavyweight rematch between Jack Dempsey and Gene Tunney, where in the 7th round Dempsey knocked Tunney to the canvas for 14 seconds, which caused many observers to believe Tunney was given more time to recover than any other referee would count to "8"
This audio documentary was made in 2002 for the 75th anniversary of the 1927 classic bout held at Chicago's Soldier Field. Joining me are Sports Historian Bert Sugar, Dempsey Biographer Roger Kahn, legendary screenwriter Budd Schulberg, Tunney Biographer Jack Cavanaugh, and Chicago Historians Studs Terkel,David Zivin, and Sean Curtain.
The documentary examines the events leading up to both Dempsey Tunney bouts. How involved were the Chicago and Philadelphia mobs in the planning and outcomes of the matches? Was referee Dave Barry on the take for the match? How did Tunney seem to have the more powerful Dempsey's number? Is Gene underated as a Heavyweight Champ?
You'll hear points of view that will last you many hours for bar conversations and debates.
